Bahratola is remote village in chitrangi block of Singrauli district in eastern Madhya Pradesh.Located 909m above sea level, it has a population of 600,
spread across 200 households.

The Village Electrification through Sustainable Use of Renewable Energy (VE-SuRE) programme aims to electrify selected villages in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Orissa by harnessing biomass and solar energy for power generation.

VE-SuRE was initiated in November 2009 by Climate Change and Development (CCD), Embassy of Switzerland in India in partnership with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Technology and Action for Rural Advancement (TARA), a social enterprise of the Development Alternatives (DA) group.
